Advanced Football Development for Children
Our Shooters Football classes provide structured football development for children aged 4.5 to 7 years. This is where football gets serious - but in the most fun way possible! Through small-sided games, technical training and match play, children develop game awareness, teamwork and advanced skills that prepare them for grassroots or academy football.
Shooters is the perfect progression from our Ballers programme, or an ideal starting point for children in this age range who are new to football. Our qualified, DBS-checked coaches create a positive, competitive environment where children thrive.
At this age, children are ready for more structured football with real competition. Our Shooters programme delivers exactly that, while maintaining the positive, encouraging atmosphere that DMG Sports Academy is known for. Every child is supported to reach their potential, regardless of their starting ability level.
Shooters Session Structure
Our Shooters sessions follow an FA-inspired format designed to develop complete footballers:
- Technical Focus: Sessions begin with technical work on passing, control, dribbling and shooting. Each week focuses on specific skills that players can apply in game situations
- Skill of the Month: Progressive development of trick skills - from standing still, to on the move, to beating a defender
- Small-Sided Games: Challenging activities where children apply their skills in realistic game situations, maximising touches on the ball and developing decision-making
- Match Play: Sessions culminate in 3v3 and 4v4 matches following FA-recommended formats. Children learn tactical lessons, patterns of play, and experience competitive football in a supportive environment
- Player Recognition: Sessions end with player of the match awards, positive feedback and sticker rewards
Sessions run for 45 minutes, packed with activity and learning. The small-sided game format ensures every child gets plenty of touches on the ball and opportunities to score goals, unlike traditional 11-a-side football where some children barely touch the ball.
Pathway to Academy and Grassroots Football
Shooters Football is designed to prepare children for the next level of their football journey. Our curriculum develops:

Many children who progress through our Shooters programme go on to join local grassroots teams or academy development programmes, with the skills and confidence to succeed. Skills Tracker and Progress Monitoring
Every Shooters member receives our Skills Tracker sticker book as part of their membership. This helps children visualise their progress throughout the year, earning stickers for attendance, skill mastery and positive attitudes. Parents appreciate being able to see their child's development and discuss sessions at home.
Our coaches also provide informal feedback to parents after sessions, helping you understand your child's progress and areas for development. This supportive approach ensures every child maximises their potential.
